Big shoutout to Joe at @strengthinmotion_pt and my coach @runwitheva for helping me navigate my cranky hamstring. While a part of me is of course sad to be missing out on @stgeorgemarathon this weekend, I am mostly back to running pain free, which is such a gift.

I joked with Joe at our session in August that the alternative to racing this weekend could be a vacation on a beach - apparently it was put into motion. My bags are packed and I am so ready for a few days in Mexico. 🇲🇽 🍹🌴

This week was about the following: blood lactate tests, building to six runs for the week, continuing my aggressive strength and PT routine, and getting over 40 miles for the first time in a few months. 🥳

Some of these things feel like small victories, while others feel quite significant. I am so far away from the fitness or mileage I’d expected or planned on, but I’m truly just giddy to routinely run while being pain-free!

Collecting data like blood lactate will mean we now have the ability to use more science to guide training and racing.

Life lately: lots of time in the gym and on the fl

Life lately: lots of time in the gym and on the floor with Nigel. Patiently working my hamstring and getting back to 5 runs per week.

Canceling my goal marathon for Fall, while replacing it with an actual legit vacation with @christopherkeelty.

Never giving up or losing perspective on what my racing goals look like, while recognizing every setback is an opportunity to get better.

Sometimes we just have to remember that we have one body, and it’s always best to prioritize it over an arbitrary timeline. Honoring the timeline our body needs is the key to achieving our goals without wrecking ourselves.
